Our story

Built for the student who keeps meaning to revise

Alivora exists because good intentions aren't enough. Students need a place to show up and a reason to come back tomorrow.

Why Alivora exists

Most students know they should revise more consistently. They know cramming doesn't work. They know that small, daily sessions would serve them better than a panicked weekend before the exam. They know, and yet...

The problem isn't knowledge. It's the gap between knowing and doing. Starting is hard. Sitting down alone, opening the books, beginning, that's the hardest part. And once you've skipped a day, skipping the next one is easier.

Alivora was built to close that gap. Not with gamification or reward systems or complicated tracking, but with something simpler: a calm, shared space where students show up every day, alongside each other, and do the work.

Meet the founder

Dr Alison (Ali) Hennessy

Founder, Alivora Microrevision

I am a science teacher and researcher with 30 years of experience across university, school and private education. As a former university lecturer in education and teacher trainer, I have long been aware of the research into distributed practice - the finding that daily study consistently outperforms cramming for long-term retention.

In my own private tuition, I noticed a familiar pattern: students would grasp something in a lesson, then lose it by the following week. When I encouraged them to revise a little each day, the difference was striking - not just in what they remembered, but in their understanding and enjoyment of the subject.

I piloted microrevision with my private students during the last academic year. The results were clear: the students who committed most consistently to the sessions got the most out of their tuition. Alivora is my way of bringing that to a wider audience.

I am delighted to now bring this to a wider audience.

Our mission

To make consistent daily study the path of least resistance for every student.

Consistency over intensity

We believe showing up every day matters more than any single heroic study session. Small and often beats big and rare.

Research, not trends

Everything in Alivora is grounded in what the evidence says about how memory and learning actually work, not what feels productive.

Calm, not pressure

Students have enough pressure. Alivora is designed to reduce friction and anxiety around studying, not add to it.

The Alivora Microrevision Method

The Microrevision Method is the framework behind every Alivora session. It draws on three well-established findings: that distributed practice produces stronger long-term retention than massed study; that social facilitation makes it easier to begin and sustain effort; and that sleep consolidates new learning into lasting memory.

Put simply: short daily sessions, in the company of others, with time to sleep on what you've learned. That's it. The method isn't complicated, but it works.

Little and often. Lasting learning.
