Who we are

What data we collect

Account information — name and email address when you sign up.
Session data — which sessions a student attends and their attendance record.
Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store card details.
Contact messages — any message you send us via the contact form.
Usage data — basic analytics about how the website is used (pages visited, time on site). This does not identify you personally.

How we use your data

To provide and manage your subscription.
To send session reminders and service updates.
To respond to enquiries you send us.
To improve the platform based on usage patterns.

We will never sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.

Children's data

Alivora is designed for secondary school students. Where a student is under 16, we require a parent or guardian to complete the subscription and provide consent. At checkout, we ask all subscribers to confirm they are 16 or over, or that they are a parent or guardian signing up on behalf of a student. We collect only the minimum data necessary to deliver the service. Parents may request deletion of their child's data at any time by emailing us.

Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the basis of contract performance (to deliver the service you signed up for) and legitimate interests (to improve the platform and communicate service updates). Where required by law, we will ask for your consent.

Who we share data with

Stripe — payment processing.
Zoom — to run live sessions (students join with an animal name and profile picture; real names are not required in the session).
GoDaddy / Airo — website hosting.

All third-party providers are contractually required to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.

How long we keep data

We keep your account data for as long as your subscription is active, plus up to 12 months afterwards in case of disputes or queries. Payment records are kept for 7 years as required by UK tax law.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), which is the data protection regulator for the whole of the UK including Scotland.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required to operate the site (for example, to keep you logged in). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify active subscribers of any significant changes by email.
